The holidays are here, and there’s no better time to put a bow on it! Whether you’re finishing off a wreath, dressing up a gift, or adding a special touch to your garland, a handmade bow brings that perfect bit of holiday cheer. At 16 Acres Garden Center, we love helping you add those beautiful finishing touches to your seasonal decor. And if you’re not quite ready to make your own, don’t worry—we have a fantastic selection of pre-made bows, plus all the supplies you need if you’re feeling crafty!

Here’s a simple, step-by-step guide to help you create a gorgeous Christmas bow you’ll be proud of.

What You’ll Need:

• 2-3 yards of wired ribbon (we suggest 2.5″ width for best results)
• Scissors
• Floral wire or twist ties

Step 1: Cut Your Ribbon

Start by cutting about 24 inches of ribbon for the loops and another 10-12 inches for the tails. Feel free to adjust the length based on how big or small you want your bow to be.

Step 2: Make the Center Loop

Hold the ribbon in your hand and form a small loop, leaving a few inches at the end for the tail. This is the center of your bow. Give it a twist in the middle to secure the loop and keep the patterned side facing out.

Step 3: Build Your Loops

Continue making loops on each side of the center loop, twisting the ribbon each time to keep it looking full and fluffy. Aim for 3-4 loops on each side for a nice, balanced bow.

Step 4: Secure the Bow

Hold everything tightly in the center and wrap it with floral wire or a twist tie. Give it a couple of twists to lock it in place.

Step 5: Add the Tails

Fold your extra piece of ribbon in half for the tails. Place it behind the loops and secure it with the same wire.

Step 6: Fluff and Finish

Now, it’s time to fluff up your bow! Gently adjust each loop until you’re happy with the shape. Trim the tails at an angle or cut a V-shaped (dovetail) edge for a professional look.
